About Me

My name is Malik Ihsan Ali and I was born in 1982 in Abu Dhabi, UAE and moved to Pakistan at age of 8 years, after the death of my beloved Father. I belong to very humble background that anybody can even imagine.

Who am I today is just because of my Education, which was the aim & passion of my beloved mother. She is real saint, who can only write & read her name, however she have the confidence to read our eyes to get confirmation that have we complete our studies properly. She along with my grand mother were coming my college to keep checking me and in result, I have completed my qualification Master in Commerce (M.Com) & ACCA.

My Journey Beyond Boundaries

I have 20 + years of Professional Experience in field of Digital Financial Services (DFS) along with Entrepreneurial Journey in different
niches and at different level. However, I earned my first income at age 11, writing Class notes to my friend, Ikhtisham Tariq.

Recently, I was heading a Leading Digital Bank, Onezapp – an EMI, from concept to customer activation. As the sole driver, I navigated the complex regulatory landscape and secured central bank approval (SBP). I led cross-functional teams in product development, compliance,
operations, customer service, and stakeholder management, ensuring a successful launch.

Previously, I worked with the largest banks in Pakistan, MCB and Bank Alfalah, as well as with the Punjab IT Board. I also served as a DFS Consultant for fintechs in emerging markets, including Afghanistan and the African region. At my core, I believe in doing things right and treating others with care. Guided by my personal values of honesty, kindness, humility, and support, I foster meaningful connections and pursue continuous growth. I bend with always learning and welcoming new challenges that ignite fire inside and make me a better me, everyday.
I resigned my permanent job in Sept 2023 to explore new worlds for me. (No, its not mid-life crisis 😊)

Key highlights of my professional career

Worked as Consultant for World Bank to designed strategy for financial services for increasing financial inclusion through Agency Banking Serv ices for Uganda Banking Associations to maintain viability of multiple projects of more than 50 organizations including issuer & Acquirer Banks, Agent Network Managers & Special Purpose Vehicles
Worked as Consultant to secured Pakistan’s 1st NBMFC license through successful regulatory engagement for Cashew Financial Services Ltd (Pakistan)
Envisioned and led the development & operation of ePay platform, the first ever tax collection aggregator for person to government (P2G) and business to government (B2G) payments and digitized 16 provincial taxes & levies and transacted more than PKR 12 billion through more than 2.5 million transactions within 1st year of launch.
Led the digitization of 180 years old water tax system (Aabina) for Govt of Punjab
Led cross functional team to secure the Pilot Approval of Leading Digital Bank, OneZapp – an EMI, funded by IFC, Bill Gates & Melinda Foundation, Sharooq Partners, Sarmayacar & System ventures.
